Ebonised ash bowl with stripes
A neat little bowl with a decorative, ebonised exterior, made from ash. This bowl is one of a few I have made in this style recently. The outside of this bowl has been ebonised using the Japanese yakisugi technique - the surface is charred with a blow torch, soot is removed using a brass wire brush and it is then finished through a number of stages of fine sanding and oiling. The outside is then turned again to make the concentric ring pattern.
Handmade in England by Percy.
21cm wide, 6.5cm high.
Note: This is a decorative item for ornamental display or practical use only (you could keep your keys in it, for example). Not designed to hold liquids or for food use.
